UPON ARRIVAL, FOLLOW THE WINDING PATH ALONG THE STREAM AND CLIFF. THE VALLEY'S GENTLE WATER FLOW AND RUSTLING INDIGENOUS PLANTS WILL GUIDE YOU TO MIST'S GUEST SERVICES.

From there, you’ll be taken to a private forested unit, where you can begin your solo or group (up to 4) immersive ritual of a wood fire sauna, cold plunge, and quiet reflection by an outdoor fire.

THE ANCIENT MIND-BODY-SPIRIT TRADITION OF SAUNA AND COLD PLUNGE, A NATURAL EXTENSION OF THE PRACTICE OF YOGA.

the MIST experience:

The Circuit

Mist Thermal Sanctuary offers private 90 minute hot cold circuits consisting of:

  • a luxurious outdoor hot/cold shower with Mist’s house eucalyptus shower spray

  • a wood-fire sauna with views of the forest

  • a cold plunge tub

  • and a beautifully cultivated outdoor rest area with fire

Soft chimes ring at 15 minute intervals, inviting you to move into the next phase of the Mist Contrast Therapy Circuit (also known as Nordic Cycle) or navigate your thermal experience intuitively, at your own pace.

The Forested Sauna Units

Mist Thermal Sanctuary presents a distinctive, thermal hydrotherapy spa ritual: private hot sauna, and cold plunge within private units, offering an immersive wellness experience for a solo experience or quietly with friends.

Retreat in one of our three units—Forest, Fern, or Moss—each offering the Mist Contrast Therapy Circuit. Guests unwind amidst the rising mist, breathe fresh conifer air, and experience the therapeutic cycles of heat, coolness, and relaxation that mirror nature's seasonal rhythms.

Mist’s private saunas emphasize functional design using local materials, an eco-friendly approach endorsed by the Vancouver Heritage Foundation. Prefabricated units minimize waste, and unused materials are repurposed for other projects.

The Location

Just a 20-minute ferry journey from Vancouver, Mist Thermal Sanctuary, a thermal circuit spa, is nestled in the heart of a temperate rainforest on Nexwlélexwm (Bowen Island), the ancestral and unceded territory of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation.

Perched atop an aquifer—a porous rock formation that preserves fresh rainwater—Mist Thermal Sanctuary harnesses this mineral-rich spring water for its hot/cold outdoor shower, cold plunge and sauna contributing to our ability to withstand water-related challenges.
